Martha Miller Cornell, assistant principal flute, earned her B.M. degree from Wayne State University and a M.M. degree from Northwestern University. As a Fulbright Grant recipient, she pursued postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England.

Before moving to Naples, Cornell had an active freelance career in Detroit and Chicago, where she played with the Detroit and Chicago symphonies as well as the Grant Park and Ravinia Festival orchestras.

In addition to her orchestral work, Cornell teaches Suzuki flute. She has been a member of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra since 1989.
